Thousands join grand procession organized by Pardesh Vishwakarma Sabha; city resonates with devotional fervour

The city of temples on Sunday witnessed an extraordinary outpouring of faith and festivity as the Pardesh Vishwakarma Sabha (PVS) organized a grand Shobha Yatra in honour of Bhagwan Vishwakarma Ji, revered as the Divine Architect of the Universe and the symbol of skill, creation, and craftsmanship.

The magnificent procession, marked by vibrant colours, devotional songs, and traditional enthusiasm, commenced from the PVS office at Gurha Morh and traversed through the main streets of Jammu, spreading spiritual energy and communal harmony throughout the city.

The event was formally flagged off by Brigadier Vijay Sagar Dheman (Retd.) and Kuldeep Verma, who graced the occasion as chief guests, in the presence of Rattan Lal Chargotra, chairman of the Sabha, and a large gathering of devotees, office-bearers, and community leaders.

City Immersed in Festive Spirit

As the procession advanced through the prominent localities of Shakti Nagar, Canal Road, Jewel Chowk, Gumat Chowk, Indira Chowk, and Bakshi Nagar, the atmosphere turned jubilant. Thousands of devotees, both on foot and in decorated vehicles, chanted hymns and slogans in praise of Bhagwan Vishwakarma Ji.

Beautifully crafted tableaux (jhankis) showcasing the celestial creations and mythological episodes associated with Lord Vishwakarma became the centre of attraction. Each tableau artistically depicted His role as the divine engineer of the universe — the creator of the heavens, palaces of gods, and celestial weapons. The displays drew huge crowds along the route, with people showering flower petals and waving saffron flags in reverence.

Women, men, and youth from different walks of life enthusiastically participated, reflecting the inclusive nature of the Vishwakarma community’s faith. Children dressed as divine figures added a touch of innocence and colour to the sacred procession.

Community Leaders and Organizations Join Hands

Several prominent social and community figures contributed to the success of the grand event. Notably, Baldev Raj of Nek Hotel, Zorawar Singh, president of Team Jammu, Romesh Kumar, general secretary of Guru Ravi Dass Sabha, and volunteers from the Hare Krishna Gaushala had installed multiple service stalls along the route. These stalls provided drinking water, refreshments, and prasad to the devotees participating in the yatra.

Prominent leaders of various social and caste-based organizations including Kewal Fotra (president, Sain Samaj), Murari Lal (president, Jheevar Samaj), and Ayodhya Kumar Manawa (president, Prajapati Sabha) also took part in the procession, underscoring the spirit of unity and mutual respect among different communities. Their presence symbolized harmony and solidarity beyond community lines.

Conclusion at Vishwakarma Mandir with Langar and Bhajans

After passing through the major bazaars and chowks of the city, the Shobha Yatra culminated at the PVS Mandir in Shakti Nagar, where a massive Langar (community feast) was organized. Hundreds of devotees partook in the Langar with devotion, embodying the true spirit of equality and selfless service that Bhagwan Vishwakarma Ji’s teachings promote.

The temple complex resonated with devotional bhajans and kirtans in praise of the divine architect. The atmosphere was spiritually charged as devotees expressed their gratitude and prayed for prosperity, harmony, and progress of the society.

Leaders Extend Gratitude and Highlight Vishwakarma’s Message

Addressing the gathering, Shashi Verma, president of the Pardesh Vishwakarma Sabha, thanked all participants, devotees, volunteers, and local administration for ensuring the smooth and peaceful conduct of the procession.

He said the annual Shobha Yatra is not only a mark of devotion but also a reminder of Lord Vishwakarma’s eternal message — promoting skill, creativity, and honesty in one’s profession. “Bhagwan Vishwakarma Ji symbolizes the dignity of labour, craftsmanship, and innovation. We must carry forward His ideals to build a society rooted in hard work, equality, and respect for all professions,” Verma said.

He also appealed to the younger generation to take inspiration from the divine architect and contribute meaningfully to nation-building through talent and technical excellence.

Massive Participation and Successful Coordination

Other senior Sabha members who contributed to the successful organization of the event included Raj Kumar Chalotra (vice president), Vijay Kumar (general secretary), Joginder Pal, Sham Lal, Vandana Sagar Chargotra (president, Mahila Wing), Veena Chalotra, Sonia Verma, Subhash Verma, Amarjeet Chargotra, Ashwan Angotra, Rakesh Chalotra, Mohinder Pal, Rashpal Singh, Janak Raj, Gurmukh Singh Pathania, Sanjay Verma (social worker), Kartar, Vinod Jaral, Madan Lal, and Darshan Singh, among others.

Their tireless efforts ensured seamless coordination between various segments of the yatra — from security arrangements to Langar distribution and traffic management.

A Grand Celebration of Faith and Craftsmanship

The Shobha Yatra of Bhagwan Vishwakarma Ji once again reinforced the rich cultural and spiritual fabric of Jammu. With streets illuminated, slogans echoing in devotion, and the community united in purpose, the event served as a reminder of the values of hard work, skill, and divine creation that Lord Vishwakarma represents.

The celebrations concluded with a collective prayer for peace, prosperity, and well-being of all, marking the day as a memorable chapter in the city’s ongoing spiritual journey.
