ASSOCHAM J&K Delegation Meets Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to Discuss Economic Growth Initiatives

A delegation from the ASSOCHAM Jammu and Kashmir Council, led by its Chairman, Manik Batra, and Co-Chairman, Bhupesh Gupta, met with Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to present a detailed representation aimed at fostering economic growth and industrial development in the region.

During the meeting, the delegation raised several key issues and proposals critical to the economic development of Jammu and Kashmir. These included the Change of Land Use policy to facilitate industrial growth, the introduction of an Electricity Amnesty Scheme for industrial units, the development of a dedicated Tourism Circuit in the Jammu region, the establishment of additional warehousing and fulfillment centers, and the Conversion of Leasehold to Freehold properties. Other proposals included the introduction of infrastructure and commercial projects under J&K Incentives and various measures to improve the ease of doing business.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah appreciated ASSOCHAM’s proactive approach in identifying challenges faced by the business and industrial community. He assured the delegation that the government would thoroughly review their proposals and take appropriate measures to support sustainable economic growth in Jammu and Kashmir.

Speaking on the occasion, Manik Batra expressed optimism about the outcomes of the meeting. “Our discussions with the Honorable Chief Minister were highly productive. We are confident that our recommendations will pave the way for impactful policy decisions that will significantly benefit the industrial and commercial sectors of Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.

Co-Chairman Bhupesh Gupta emphasized the council’s commitment to collaborating closely with the government to implement these initiatives effectively. “ASSOCHAM remains dedicated to creating a conducive environment for businesses to thrive in Jammu and Kashmir. We look forward to working with the government to realize these proposals,” he stated.

The ASSOCHAM J&K Council has been actively advocating for policies that promote sustainable economic development, enhance the region’s industrial base, and improve the ease of doing business. By engaging with government stakeholders and presenting practical recommendations, the council aims to position Jammu and Kashmir as a hub for industrial and commercial activity.
