Seeking support for the party president Mehbooba Mufti, spokesperson of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Varinder Singh Sonu on Monday said that only PDP can protect the dignity and honour of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing a series of public meetings in Chattisingh Pura, Mattan, Hutmarah, Nowgam, Singh Pura Pehalgam, and Ranbir Pora areas of south Kashmir, Varinder Singh Sonu asked people to strengthen the hands of Mehbooba Mufti to restore the dignity and honour of the residents of J&K.
“J&K is passing through a crucial phase of history and the democratic and basic rights of the residents of this part of the country have been shamelessly snatched by the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre”, he said, adding, “The coming election is an opportunity to give a befitting reply to those who were responsible for degrading the residents of J&K”.
He said that only PDP is the genuine and credible voice of the people of Jammu and Kashmir due to its political and economic agenda.
He said that PDP would work towards implementing its unaccomplished agenda of securing peace, stability, and prosperity for Jammu and Kashmir.
Sonu further said that restoring the dignity and honour of the people of J&K is the only agenda of PDP.
“PDP`s agenda is to ensure political, economic, and social security for the people of the state”, he said and added that the only PDP leadership has the guts to oppose oppressive policies of the BJP-led government at the Centre.
“Jammu and Kashmir needs a total change and with people`s support, PDP will bring it,” he stressed and urged the people to support Mehbooba Mufti, who is contesting the election on the Anantnag-Pooch-Rajouri seat.
Meanwhile, emphasizing the party’s commitment to performance, valuing its workers, and expressing readiness to take challenges head-on in way of serving the people, the PDP president urged the party leaders and workers to focus on demonstrating strength and solidifying the party at the grassroots level in order to work effectively for the cause of people of J&K.
Mehbooba Mufti while addressing a meeting of Central Kashmir leaders of the party said that every functionary must work to live up to being a members of PDP that is a formidable force struggling for the people of J&K.
“Our founder Mufti sahab, had a deep emotional connection with Srinagar. His personal history and the time he spent in Srinagar contributed to his understanding of the city’s needs and aspirations. This connection also influenced the party’s focus on addressing the concerns of the people of Srinagar and advocating their interests. His affection for Srinagar and his dedication towards its development could be seen as a driving force behind the party’s efforts to represent the city effectively,” Mehbooba said.
