After one and half months of a hectic election campaign, all candidates are easing themselves to regain their strength but Congress candidate Choudhary Lal once again set an example for others.

Taking note of the miseries being faced by over 100 landslide-affected families in Parnote village of Ramban district, Choudhary Lal Singh reached ground zero to inquire about the conditions of the helpless families.

Except issuing statements from Jammu or Srinagar and using social media platforms to express concern with the affected families, no politician spared time to visit the ground-zero to assess the real sitaution. As polling in the landslide affected villages has already been done so politicians preferred to issue statements either from Srinagar or Jammu.

Setting an example for other, Choudhary Lal Singh reached the ground zero.

Important to mention here that land sinking near Ramban town of Jammu and Kashmir has wreaked havoc in many areas as more than 100 homes and crucial power infrastructure were badly damaged

The landslide started on Friday at Parnote village of Ramban district and is still going on silently in the hilly region of this area which witnessed brisk developmental works including the widening of the road network and tunneling to connect Kashmir with the rail network.

Choudhary Lal Singh, the Congress candidate for the Udhampur-Doda Lok Sabha seat accompanied by Fairoz Khan, State Youth Working President of Jammu and Kashmir visited Pernote Village to assess the aftermath of the devastating land subsidence that has affected more than 100 families, with all houses in the 2km radius damaged to varying degrees.

Expressing profound concern over the situation, Choudhary Lal Singh highlighted the pivotal role played by prompt action and the assistance of the local public, NGOs like Team Umeed, QRT, SDRF, and local volunteers in rescuing the affected families. He emphasized the significant impact on agriculture, horticulture, and allied activities caused by the disaster and land has become useless for reuse.

During the visit, it became evident that the makeshift shelters, due to continuous rains, have become uninhabitable, exacerbating the challenges faced by the affected families. Choudhary Lal Singh urged the concerned departments to conduct a comprehensive study of the causes of the disaster, emphasizing their belief that it is a result of man-made activities by dumping of muck into the river beds of Chenab and river changed direction and also because no culvert was there in Gool Sangaldan road.

Choudhary Lal Singh reiterated their demand for immediate relief of 10 lakh rupees to each affected family, land equivalent to the amount lost, and one employment government job or in companies and opportunity for each family whose house has been destroyed.  He assured the affected families of their unwavering support and pledged to champion their cause to ensure that they receive the necessary assistance and support to rebuild their lives.

Fairoz Khan expressed gratitude to Choudhary Lal Singh for his visit and for raising his voice for immediate relief. He hoped that the authorities would announce relief measures promptly to alleviate the suffering of the affected families. They also stressed the early restoration of the Gool-Sangaldan road.
